The Lord Mayor's Seniors Cabaret is a free 'stage performance development' program that allows Brisbane seniors the opportunity to learn from the best in the biz.

The 2021 program has concluded but we will be opening up the free registration process for the 2022 program in May 2022.

If you can dream it, you can do it!

Details of the 2021 are below.

If you’re a singer, dancer, a choir or vocal group, an instrumentalist or a comedian we want to hear from you now.

Expressions of interest are now open for people who enjoy performing and want an opportunity to further their experiences through development and on-stage mentoring.

This is a free program for all participants and no auditions are required.

The theme for this year's program is ‘A Night at the Oscars’.

If you would like to be involved this year, please complete the Expression of Interest program online form and we will contact you with further registration details.

The Lord Mayor’s Seniors Cabaret provides Brisbane seniors the opportunity to develop their creative and artistic talents in a non-competitive and supportive environment and provides an opportunity to work alongside professional mentors in a masterclass environment providing participants with the tools and encouragement to successfully perform.

The program also provides participants the chance to work alongside top industry professionals on stage presentation, vocal technique, singing, dancing and instrumental.

The Lord Mayor’s Seniors Cabaret program is made up of three parts:

1. Masterclasses

Participants take part in free masterclasses across Brisbane with some of Australia's most popular performers and vocal coaches to develop their skills and talents working one-on-one with the professional mentors.

This year for the first time there will be a ‘beginner’s only’ class for those who have not performed before but have always wanted to. We have also included a 'Song and Dance' group masterclass, a 'Ukulele and Voice' session, a 'Group singing' session and a 'Dance acts' only masterclass.

Masterclasses will be held from 20 July to 5 August 2021. The focus of the masterclasses includes:

  • overcoming stage fright

  • stage craft

  • vocal technique

  • group singing

  • song and dance

  • a healthy voice

  • less is more

  • how to hit those high notes

  • ukulele and voice

Each masterclass is three hours and you will be asked to prepare two items to work on. A pianist is available to perform with you if you choose and you’ll be supported with professional sound equipment.

2. Showcases

After completing the masterclasses, some participants will have the opportunity to perform in a showcase concert and set the stage alight with their singing, dancing and instrumental skills in various venues across Brisbane.

Showcases will be held in August - September 2021.

3. Gala Cabaret

The Lord Mayor’s Seniors Gala Cabaret Concert includes performances by some of the mentors as well as providing an opportunity for some participants to be perform and be a part of a final spectacular Gala show in Brisbane City Hall.
